A Creative Future for Cardigan

A state-of-the-art new media centre is now open in Cardigan. Creative Mwldan, a European Objective 1 funded project, has transformed the derelict barn adjacent to the Theatr Mwldan into a bright, welcoming facility which exudes energy and creativity. The beautiful stone walls of the old barn are visible through the new sleek glass frontage, and the original features of the structure blend effortlessly into the high-tech modern ambience.

The centre is now home to various media businesses from web design to illustration – and there is plenty of room for more. The sole trader taking up residence at Creative Mwldan gets an attractive, professional environment and access to the latest technology and equipment. Even more valuable is the expertise of the staff and other tenants. The centre has two enthusiastic new team members whose jobs were created through the Objective 1 project funding.

Since moving into the new building in November, the centre has already played host to television companies to produce adverts and even a pop video. The studio space and editing facilities make Creative Mwldan unique in West Wales and allow it to compete for top-level business. It is a major step forward in Cardigan’s regeneration and will help numerous small businesses in the area to develop and flourish.

The combined talents housed at Creative Mwldan have even produced a film of their own. Entitled Llifo (Flowing), the film is a varied journey through the regeneration of the Teifi Valley heard through the voices of the residents and the river. Release at the Theatr Mwldan is due on March 15th.

Large-scale printing, video, photographic, audio and various other equipment is available to the public and there is always a friendly welcome awaiting.
