Ceredigion Partnership's European Website: Objective 1 is a European Union financing programme aimed at increasing economic prosperity in certain areas of Europe. Fifteen local authority areas across West Wales and the Valleys qualified for Objective 1 status because their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was below 75% of the European average. The programme began in 2000 and continues until 2006, with approved projects continuing to draw funding until 2008. £31.3 million worth of grants have so far been approved for Ceredigion, financing projects in the private, public and voluntary sectors, and creating and safeguarding hundreds of jobs.
